SUMMARY:Narcan Workshop: Overdose Response & Heat Resilience
DESCRIPTION:The “Stay Safe\, Stay Cool: Overdose Response & Heat Resilience Workshop” presented by Dr. Samantha Calvin. \nJoin us for an interactive\, hands-on workshop designed to help you save lives and stay safe this summer. Learn how to recognize an opioid overdose\, administer Narcan\, and protect yourself and others from heat-related illness – all in a stigma-free\, community-driven space! \nAgenda includes: \n\nIcebreaker\nFentanyl 101\nNarcan Demo\nRecovery Position Relay\nGame: Myths vs. Facts\nDiscussion: Heat & Overdose Risks\n\nThis workshop is open to anyone in the community\, especially those who use substances\, support others who do\, or simply want to be prepared to save a life. \nAll are welcome. No ID required. No judgment. Just care. \nNo pre-registration required.  First 20 people will be admitted: waitlist available for overflow.  There will be classes at 9:00am\, 9:45am\, 10:30am\, and 11:15am.  Registration opens at 8:00 AM. Please arrive early to reserve your spot. \nThis event may be documented by media or photographers. You may still attend if you prefer not to be recorded\, just let us know at check-in. \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will \n\nUnderstand the risks of fentanyl and recognize signs of overdose.\nWhat a fentanyl test strip looks like and its uses\nLearn how and when to administer Narcan.\nPractice the recovery position.\nDebunk common myths about opioids\, Narcan\, and overdoses.\nLearn how heat increases overdose risk and how to protect themselves.\n\nTrainees will go home with free kits in case they ever have to play the Good Samaritan.
